Step7: This step involves taking a look at a section that you will come back to time and time again. Open the Reports tab and take a look at some of the reporting options osc has. You will use this tab in the future to determine which products may be popular or how many of a particular item has sold.

  • Products Purchased- Shows you how many times a particular product has been purchased by your customers.
  • Customer Orders Total- shows you which customers have bought the most and how much they have spent.

Step8: This is the final step in the Admin menu. Take a look at the Tools tab and try to become familiar with each tool and how it works. Under this tab is a great many items that will be very helpful as your shop becomes running and successful.

  • Database Backup- Allows you to make a backup of your current database.
  • Banner Manager- Allows you to work with banners you have displayed on your site. You can track banner stats here as well.
  • Define Languages- Allows you to edit all of your language files to customize your shop. We will come back to this section in a later chapter.
  • File Manager- Allows you to manage all your files and directories in your osc folders.
  • Send E-mail- This item gives you the ability to send e-mails to your customers without having to look up each customer e-mail.
  • Newsletter Manager- Allows you to draft up newsletters which can later be sent to your customers.
  • Server Info- Simply displays information about the server you shop is running on.
  • Who’s Online- Gives you the ability to see who is looking at your shop and where in your shop they are.

Step 9:Experiment, experiment, experiment! Try things out to see what they do, get to know your shop!

This concludes Chapter 3:The Administration Menu. By now you should be able to at least get around in the Admin menu without too much trouble. If you need to, go back and look at the steps in the last few chapters again. It is extremely important you become very familiar with your new shop's admin section as it is the heart of your store! Good luck with your new shop and have fun!
